I have been married for over seven years, and involved in the marriage space for over five. I created the Marriage Meeting Cards to help Muslims prevent divorce before it even happens, because prevention is better than cure.
Through both Islamic and psychology research, I found that the number one underlying factor in divorce is not communication or finances on their own. Yes, those things cause divorce, but the deeper factor is ignorance: of marriage itself, and of the person you are marrying. The more you close that gap, the better your chances of a marriage that lasts.
Marriage is hard work, and a successful one does not happen by accident. We will release tools to help married couples build stronger bonds and grow together, but it starts here. As Imam Ibn al-Qayyim reminds us, the cure for ignorance is to ask. So start by asking, because the right question is worth more than gold and silver.
